Ben Mannino
Who says a computer guy can't be a car dealer? Ben and his business partner Vlad went from selling and servicing computers to a successful Ebay motors business in just a few short years. In early 2002, Ben had to be talked into selling cars by two of his employees, who were big-time car buffs. These young whippersnappers in their early 20's quickly sold him on the idea of buying "fixer-upper" vehicles at insurance auctions for resale. He purchased a few cars, fixed them up and they sold them locally for profits that he had only dreamed about in the computer business! Even though he lives in a different state, he and his business partners are making it work. He currently works full time as an IT Manager for a software company in NY while his partners operate the business in Georgia. They purchase the cars at insurance auctions and bring them back to the shop for cleaning/detailing (yes, they detail damaged vehicles, lol). They take the photos and load it up on the PC, and then Ben goes to town with the Ebay auctions. They make a great team. His partner has a knack for finding great deals on repairable cars, trucks, boats and RVs. Ben is a web programmer and database specialist, so he takes care of every aspect of the auctions, website, emails, etc. He also developed a complete web based back-end for them to enter data, upload the pictures, mark cars as sold etc.

The business has been growing steadily.
1st year = $200,000
2nd year = $400,000
3rd year = $1 million (2005)
4th year = $1.4 -1.6 mil.(2006) During this period, they have sold over 500 cars on and off Ebay. They have been living and breathing Ebay Motors for the last four years - they know their stuff!! With an incredible 99% positive feedback rating selling repairable cars, that's no easy feat. The knowledge and experience that they have gained over the years would be very valuable for anyone looking to get into this business. Ben has even created an e-book, The Insiders Guide To Buying and Selling Salvage Cars. He sold this on Ebay for 99 cents as a lead generation tool (thanks to Jim for the tip!) and it worked like a charm. Invaluable Ebay Motors experience from a living, breathing success story.
