The Jim Cockrum Newsletter (aka CES News) 09-02-2011 - My latest news for you
Jim Cockrum
1. Gratitude and Inspiration
I love telling you about the creative and inspirational
people I get to work with! Here are three that have been
amazing me lately with what they are up to: 1. Nancy Alexander of LadyBugWreaths.net is currently
putting together a high profile Internet promotion
with all proceeds going to support an orphanage in
Guatemala. This particular orphanage is run by a
good friend of my wife and mine who is also the
adoption coordinator that helped us get our gorgeous
daughter home from Guatemala three years ago. Get the
full story on Nancy's most recent
blog post: http://nancysramblings.com/ 2. Kevin Ramsby is working daily in the inner city
of Detroit inspiring people that desperately need
hope. We are using proceeds from my 101freemarketing.com
book to help support budding young entrepreneurs.
His website is HopeVillageDetroit.com 3. Michael and Susan Whitehead recently moved their
entire family (5 kids) from the U.S. to Costa Rica
and dropped me an email saying thanks for helping
them find creative income streams that made it possible.
That's inspirational! Best wishes on your continued
success guys! Here's a blog post Susan put up hours
after landing in their new home: http://mrshomeschool.com/blog/579/dream-big-and-expect-results/ 2. Amazon or eBay? The debate continues... As you may already know, the price on the
ProvenAmazonCourse.com has just been cut in half
temporarily. Here's what one recent student of the PAC had to say
on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02nVfYPjRRA The forum we set up for those selling on Amazon is
going crazy with activity as well. Going back just a couple months here is a blog post
I wrote about the biggest reason why I think Amazon.com
now has an advantage over eBay for many types of products: http://www.jimcockrum.com/blog/?p=1244 Note: I'm still selling on eBay because they are still
better for many types of items, but you can't afford
to ignore Amazon! Join the discussion on my blog. 3. Quick Tips
Longer titles on eBay!On September 1st, 2011 eBay is changing the number
of characters you can use in your listing titles.
It's going from 55 characters to 80.
TIP: Fill the extra space with keywords that shoppers
are likely to use. Extra characters such as "!" ,
"L@@K" etc. and words like "wow", "amazing", or
"special" are a waste of space. Instead, use great
keywords that shoppers are likely to type into the
eBay search box.
The ONLY Way to Rank High on Google Long TermA short, sweet, and very clear blog post on the
topic of getting a website ranked high on Google. http://www.jimcockrum.com/blog/?p=1688 What do you think? Leave a comment or tell me I'm crazy...
let's talk about it. 4. Past issues available

Jim: Thank you for not forgetting there is a time and place for eBay. For a time there I was getting the impression that you had completely sold eBay out so you could make some good money on PAC. I agree that Amazon works very well and definitely better for certain products, but their fees are far from cheap and unless you are selling big margin items I think they stink (only a personal position).
